Midnight 06:25
The heavy stone walls flickered yellow, lit by the heavy bronze chandelier which allowed me to turn, one by one, the dry, thick pages of the aged tome. Chorus To my horror and dismay, on the very last page, as if in a mockery of the holy words, there lay scribbled and inconspicuous the star of Belial once again. Chorus To my horror and dismay, on the very last page, as if in a mockery of the holy words, there lay scribbled and inconspicuous the star of Belial once again. It was an utter mystery to learn whose blasphemous hand had drawn this abominable sigil, and on a centuries-old manuscript version of the Libri Quattuor Sententiarum Chorus To my horror and dismay, on the very last page, as if in a mockery of the holy words, there lay scribbled and inconspicuous the star of Belial once again. And yet, it had for decades been in sole possession of father Ilnestane… I was lost in deep thought and dreadful conjecture when I was much surprised by a loud and ominous sound that broke the nocturnal silence. It was the chime of the church's bell! It was striking midnight.” Chorus To my horror and dismay, on the very last page, as if in a mockery of the holy words, there lay scribbled and inconspicuous the star of Belial once again.

Deceiver 06:22
In that moment when all was said and done, when it was desperately too late, perhaps my greatest, anguish was to feel certain that Miss Davenport would never know or believe my intense regret in having had to delude her. Could I have had any other option? I kept asking myself in dire mortification. In doing what I did, I robbed that splendid creature of the innocent, childish trust she had given me. Chorus I felt I had perpetrated a death. In an act of destruction I failed to recognize, I deprived myself and the world itself of something beautiful. That I can never shake off. Desire 05:25
They say a tryst with death can sometimes be the lesser evil… but life should not be for the faint-hearted and for better or for worse I was not born to walk the easy path. The wanton fires of unruly desire can burn one’s flesh and char one’s soul Chorus But what way was there, other than cast away my life, my position, If I had stopped to ponder over my actions, I would surely feel nothing but awe More painfully than the pyres of the priests. For the indomitable might of the folly that allows a man to so deliberately reject a colourless past in a bid for the unknown. Better to burn and vanish like a shooting star than to endure in feigned life. For the indomitable might of the folly that allows a man to so deliberately reject a colourless past in a bid for the unknown. Better to burn and vanish like a shooting star than to endure... In feigned life Chorus But what way was there, other than cast away my life, my position, If I had stopped to ponder over my actions, I would surely feel nothing but awe.

Path 06:08
The scent of wet earth was strong in the night air. The trees rustled on the old dirt road I walked steadily but without haste. Presently it seemed to me that I could discern up on the hazy hill some veiled light that must surely be the goal of my journey, at the end of the pathway I now trod. Chorus The night was cool, but inside my cloak my fingers touched a frozen surface. The blade I carried embodied my intent: strong, straight, unyielding, but still so cold. I all but covered the lattice of my lamp, even though in the darkness its dim glow could scarcely resemble more than a ghost. During my ascent, I saw a black shape moving, slither across the path in front of me I turned my lamp It was a very large snake that quickly disappeared. Chorus The night was cool, but inside my cloak my fingers touched a frozen surface. The blade I carried embodied my intent: strong, straight, unyielding, but still so cold. I was somewhat startled. Could this be an omen? And what did it mean, what could it presage to the venture at hand?

Lust 06:21
There comes a time when a man, against every judgment, must abandon every sensible course of action. My surrender to what must be reckless, in my own mind, the only possible route, straight as a razor's edge, and likewise shining as a silver avenue amidst the darkness of an otherwise inconceivable existence. Chorus My purpose, my goal, overwhelmed every other facet of my life, and all were subjected to it, bowing as servants before an emperor. A ruler who dominated all other senses, and the meaning of life. Could I realize the consequences of the actions I was about to undertake? And would it have mattered in the least? would it have mattered in the least? Chorus My purpose, my goal, overwhelmed every other facet of my life, and all were subjected to it, bowing as servants before an emperor. A ruler who dominated all other senses, and the meaning of life.

Dreamer 09:42
...The oniric dim landscape spread all the way to a vast horizon under a leaden sky. The clouds shimmered far away, separating the dark and immense masses of earth and sky, but I knew not whether this was the break of dawn or the dying sunset. As if nothing had changed I heard the sound of calming waters about me and a gentle breeze stirred up my resolve. I did felt conscious once more, and then all was swept away. Chorus The mossy odour that pierced my nostrils in the cold still air somehow I had awakened in this dreamland with no purpose or direction. I must wake up again... Chorus The mossy odour that pierced my nostrils in the cold still air somehow I had awakened in this dreamland with no purpose or direction. I must wake up again... Now in my woken life I long for the mossy smell and the piercing cold air whose memory, above all else, make me feel alive, somewhere in an unfathomable world.

On The Loose 05:56
Outside, in the darkness, up the winding road that was lost behind the trees, the wind was calling from the crossroads. The failed poet heard the snakelike hiss echo as if uttered by the woods themselves. The door rattled as he sat not knowing whether to throw another log into the fireplace or to open the house for the wind to come in and him to go out, following the call. He could make out his own name. Feeling the cold in his very bones, he still sat, as if he could stop the passage of time. The walls seemed as frail as his resolve, as if the weight of the night could crush them in an instant. He was shut within. Chorus He was shut within, but he knew that, without, He was shut within the Devil is on the loose. The Devil is on the Loose He could make out his name. Feeling the summoning in his very bones, he still sat, as if he could stop the passage of time and turn back the inevitable. He could make out his own name. Feeling the cold in his very bones, he still sat, as if he could stop the passage of time. Chorus He was shut within, but he knew that, without, He was shut within the Devil is on the loose.
